2011 – The Year of the Child!
As short-term teams and North American churches help to build up Central American communities in holistic,
comprehensive ways through creating "model villages", we sense the need to sharpen our focus on the weakest,
most vulnerable persons of each village – the children. President Gordon Garrett was greatly inspired recently by the
book "Too Small to Ignore", authored by Compassion International President/CEO, Wess Stafford. This has driven us
to begin to assess the real needs of children in Honduras, evaluate the ways in which HTH is already helping, and
position ourselves to make an even greater difference in the years to come. Although we have named 2011 to be
"The Year of the Child", this will not be just a 1-year effort. The coming year will be dedicated to finding ways for
Heart to Honduras to better help Central American children in the future. The Year of the Child took off with a blast
January 8-9, 2011 at the HTH

Pastor José Cisneros (Las Conchas church) has begun a “CHAIR FOR EVERY CHILD!” campaign!
This is one initial response to the recent Committed to Children conference. Pastor José wants to be sure and make
room in his church for every one of these important little people.

No boring Sunday School classes in Choloma, Honduras!
Pastor Walter Bermudez, already a champion for children, has begun to evaluate his Sunday School curriculum, in
response to what he heard at the conference. His goals are to be more strategic and creative in what he’s teaching
the children of his church.
