Heart to Honduras is a holistic ministry, centered in Christ and resourced by
passionate partners. It is our call to make disciples and serve the poor.
Okay, but what does that mean in practical terms? Here are our three priorities:
1. The School of Discipleship
2. The network of local churches known as Brazos Abiertos (Open Arms)
3. The Yure Camp for young people of Central America
I would like to share a bit about our network of churches in Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa
Rica. The most recent count shows there are 27 churches in Honduras, four in Nicaragua and
three in Costa Rica. New churches are being started on a fairly regular basis through the
ministries of the Brazos Abiertos churches—a very natural reproductive process of the
indigenous church and not by North Americans. We love that!
The local church is God’s community of believers on earth who are to serve Him and His
Kingdom. It is the church that is called to flesh out holistic ministry in Central American villages
and communities. Heart to Honduras is called to work along side the church and not take the
place of the local church. It is our goal to help the churches be what they are meant to be and
serve Kingdom purposes on earth. We want the local churches to be the “heroes” of holistic
ministry in their communities and not Heart to Honduras.
And I really do see the pastors and faithful servants of these churches as spiritual heroes. So
many of them are living illustrations of God’s purpose and power for His people.
If you would like more information about Brazos Abiertos or if your church is interested in
partnering as a sister church please contact us!
