Cindy Penhorwood, Health Care Coordinator.
Health Care Coordinator after first traveling to Honduras
with a medical team in 1992 and leading teams since then.
The health care ministry of HTH has grown steadily in the
past 15 years from one team a year to eight medical teams
traveling to Honduras from the states during 2004.
Expanding from when early teams held clinics in remote
villages to the Canchias Regional Clinic where recent
remodeling now includes a pre-and post-operative area as well as a surgical suite, the
ministry continues to provide health care for 20 villages in Honduras. With goals of
implementing health promotion care measures and health education interventions that will
impact future generations of many Hondurans, Cindy will work with a stateside coordinating
health care team which includes current board members Dr. Larry Lilly, Dr. Scott Kardatzke
and Dr. Jennifer White. She will also be working with Community Health Team in Honduras.
A Registered Nurse with a master’s degree in community health nursing and post graduate
study as a family nurse practitioner, Cindy taught in the Anderson University School of
Nursing (Anderson, IN) for the past 12 years. During her time there, she led groups of
nursing students to Honduras. While in Anderson, she was active in the North Anderson
Church of God, participating on the Health Ministries Cabinet, and a past member of the
Board of Outreach and Missions.
